Globular star clusters are amongst the oldest of all stars and form a spherical halo around our Milky Way galaxy. Images taken summer 2009 through my small piggybacked 70mm aperture Meade ETX-70 from the light polluted suburbs in typically 200s CCD exposures.

  • Hi Nytecam,

    Really enjoying your videos,

So, you mount your ETX-70 on your Meade and take your shots all through that scope? Why not use the 12inch for the photography?

My father and I are both starting into astronomy and are studying it at Auckland University (New Zealand)... we have an ETX-90 and are hoping to buy a 10 inch LX200 and set it up via webcam... We would love your advice if you have anything to impart to us...

    Keep it up!

    Craig

  • Hi Craig - I've had the LX200 over a decade and like the challenge of squeezing the most from small scopes like the ETX-70 - which I'm told on some astro fora outperforming 14" scopes used visually ;-)
