These cars only have 600hp but hit 230MPH (370kph) at Indy, that gives you some perspective on how little downforce they are using compared to F1, they are pushing it to the limit on grip on every corner just for speed on the straights
@WilVincent88 thats is why indy cars are designed around this dumb ring raceways... i dont see any indy car doing shit in a circuit so you have no point. About the tires, you still have no point because theres a million different tire options for each race, meaning the poorly designed road course in indy couldnt allow that race
So the reason all but 6 drivers race had nothing to do with the fact their poor little tyres couldn't handle 12 little degrees of banking at two thirds of the speed of what the IndyCar drivers do? I must have been watching a different race, as in my one, about 35-40% of the oval is used...
@Tyler83Mr Monaco may be historic but there's barely any overtaking, at least you get it in indy. Still though I do agree with you on monza and spa, and a few other classics.
@sammieboj Yeah, but we're talking about good racing. i.e--passing, side-by-side action, and overall close racing. If it were a competition of over-priced, overrated, and unexciting racing, F1 would take the cake; no doubt.
@sammieboj F1 has become so boring since the V10-era ended. Nowadays IndyCar is much more fun to watch, I like the variety with both ovals and road courses, and the tickets are much cheaper lol. F1 is all about money, IC still let talents drive. Take F1 driver Maldonado for example, he sucks, but Williams keep him around because he has some south american oil sponsor that gives the team a shit load of money. I started watching NASCAR this year, and I have to say it's currently better than F1.

To think Dan led only one lap, the last, the one that counts. Like his friend Jenson Button in Canada the same year. RestInPeaceDW

@kgb474 Well, to speak in their defense, Wheldon was not 2nd going into the final lap. It didn't help that both Dixon and Franchitti ran out of fuel.

the indy 500 is the oldest continueous raing event for a reason. Who cares if its just left turns. monza is mostly right turns and so was brooklands

@guitarrmasta half of the indycar races are on circuits

@Tyler83Mr Thing is, has Monaco, Monza, or Spa been around as long as IMS? No. So it is the greatest for that reason and many more reasons.

@WilVincent88 yes i did, and if you had watched it, you should have known by now it was in the indy road course, not the ring smart pants

@96texan you should watch the 2005 Indy 500, the commentary is a million times worse than this.

I think Indycar is good as F1.

Indy is sooooooo lame, in fact all yank racing is lame, you're either racibg on an oval or a 1/4 mile. Boring as fuck. F1 is sooooo much better.

@jamesthunderful are you serious? put f1 cars on a dumb ring raceway and you'll get a race twice as interesting as this
guitarrmasta 3 months ago
they say indycar is 15 year behind F1, but I havent seen a race in F1 that could compare to this in years.

Losing it cost Hilderbrand the 500 but cost Wheldon his life.
