I've been back to HK like 10 years ago. It was a little different then...at least there were no platform doors. I remember the announcement was "please mind the doors" which sounded funny. MUCH cleaner than NY subway and I like the fact that you can go through the cars without passing through stupid doors.

The best thing i found, is that subway in HK does NOT smell, unlike the subways in America.

If you really like MTR very much, why don't you suggest it takes over part of (or entire) NY Subway? I mean all 468 stations will be much cleaner, more modern, beautiful and comfortable? (A better management)

@bbtvN yes East Rail Line is the oldest rail in HK, but made in 1910, not 12

Better than London rubbish

@MrRobertHastings In Cantonese, that is.

I'm contemplating a move here, and I have to ask, how much Cantonese do you need to know to function? I'm a native English speaker and I know a few basic phrases.

at the peak time everyday, there will be 1-3mins per one train arrived...
my English is bad

At the :42 second mark that guy crosses the yellow line. That could be deadly if the woman in blue backed up.

@et3naltwilight The NYC subway probably has more stations. But I think the MTR covers more distance, is cleaner, has more lifts (for the disabled) and less chance of being attacked by a rat on the train.
haha. 'The video brings you to experience one of the busiest urban subway network in the world.' Lol. Have u been on or seen the London Underground. The London Underground has 270 stations and approximately 400 km (250 miles) of track. And when busy u cant move at all. But all respect to HK, and respect to Britain aswell.

LOL I suppose if we were to compare HK's system to those in New York, London or Japan, it does seem pathetic doesn't it? By all means, I have YET to experience any of these systems, I would love to *one day*!

You took this video at midnight? I live in Hong Kong and the MTR trains would hardly be this quiet.

LOL yup! I went out past 11:30pm just to record a film of the subway, I sat in the first car where there's usually less people than the middle and end sections of the train set!
