I feel where you're coming from (except maybe about the death and blowing people up part) - those protesters were being pretty selfish, especially considering the kids and all.  However the torch DID end up making it to the hospital after a small detour, so besides having to wait a little while the kids all went home happy. Even the two runners they had to skip were given a few minutes with the torch later on in the relay.

Problem solved, no harm done.
