  • This DVD is 2 hours 46 minutes of highly condensed training that would take a person years to master. I can fully appreciate the beauty behind basing the Saiga shotgun and the SVD around the AK platform now: no new "system" to teach a soldier, just master the one system (Kalashnikov platform) and the rest is semantics. Very nicely done, Sonny. This is pure gold. Now if you will excuse me, I have to teach myself to be ambidextrous.

  • @wcropp1 cartridges with thinner, cannelured copper jackets and lead cores, the 5.45 would almost undoubtedly fragment more easily than 5.56. Either way, though, any yawing cartridge is quite deadly. These days you can also get projectiles in many calibers that do not typically yaw that are designed to fragment (open/hollow/ballistic tip), somewhat closing the gap between yawing and non-yawing cartridges.

  • @julebuggy I'm not Sonny, but I would venture to say that no, it is not. 5.45 is almost certainly better than non-fragmenting 5.56 projectiles, or outside of 5.56 fragmentation range, but I would venture to guess fragmentation does more damage than yawing alone--typical, mil-surp 5.45 (and all Soviet cartridges that I know of) does not fragment. In other words, it is a better cartridge design, but the projectile construction limits its effectiveness. If the Russians constructed their
