There are three different ways that you can extract or isolate features on existing layers:
- Select features by location using a buffer: Use this method to select features within a specific distance of a single polygon, line, or point feature.
- Create overlapping buffer zones around points: Use this method to select features inside (or touching) a particular polygon, or multiple polygons. The overlay polygons must be selected individually.
- Create overlay analysis for features: Use this method to select features inside (or touching) the polygons on another layer in your map. The overlay polygons are selected automatically.
The animation shows a thematic analysis using two polygon layers. In this example, an intersect analysis is used to show all of the parcels in a city that fall within the zones classified as Retail.
