Wow you guys need to chill out. I clicked on this vid to see a drummer I never heard of, not a bunch of racist comments. Music is suppose to bring people together! Also, I cannot believe this is the 21st century and you guys can't have an intelligent debate. How about talk about what music means to you and your favorite artists instead of immediately yelling racial slurs at one another. You should use this media to learn about one another, not to spread hate.

@BoxerMonkey Well, there are non white people who also think Sivamani is actually well below average. He is popular just like how britney spears and mallika sherawat are popular - bells and whistles. No real substance. If you want to listen to good drumming.. in the western world, listen to Mike Portnoi, in India, try to go to a concert by Roberto Narayan.

Saying white people can't drum is absolute nonsense if they haven't listened to the greats out there. (Pert, Portnoi, and several others.). Even in India, there used to be this guy called Roberto Narain (ex drummer of that stupid metal band from bangalore.. i forget the name.. cos they really sucked). But he broke off and started playing with some Jazz and fusion people. OMG!

I don't think it has anything to do with being white or non white. Shivamani is honestly not a world beater by any standards. He was born in a time when drummers in India were obscure. Hence the hype. And don't tell me I don't know about music, be it Indian or American. I am classically trained and have an ear for good music. There are many traditional percussionists in India who deserve this attention. Shivamani is average at best.
