Rocky Neck is the oldest working art colony in the country! It has been luring artists to its picturesque shores for more than 150 years. From Fitz Hugh Lane, who painted here in the 1840's, through Emile Gruppe, who made his home here and painted into the 1970's, as well as Winslow Homer, Childe Hassam, Maurice Prendergast, Cecilia Beaux, Jane Paterson and a host of other professional and amateur artists..
Today, the area is still home to many working artists and abounds with fascinating galleries. Paintings in all media are available, as well as many other specializations like batik, photography, jewelry, and quilting.
