Do you have links? Last I heard the DEA was cracking down REALLY hard on dispensaries and state officials. In fact, they threatened a governor and got her to veto a proposed law just recently.

Also, there are many, many, many political reasons why cannabis is still illegal, none of them very logical or based in fact. However, several states are trying to create initiatives to get it rescheduled or trying to pass medical laws on the state level independent of federal legislation. Unfortunately the DEA is strong-arming these states & threatening governors with jail time unless they veto these laws, along with using other terrorist tactics.
