The Death Eaters - Harry Potter Series

The third of the four group studies I'm doing for Harry Potter.

Storyline: A group of dark wizards and witches who sided with Lord Voldemort and fought against the Ministry during the First and Second Wizarding Wars. They wore black hoods with eye slits and each had a Dark Mark burned onto their forearm to connect with their leader. When Voldemort disappeared during the First Wizarding War due to the attack at Potter's house, the Death Eaters dispersed and fell into chaos. Most of them were rounded up by Aurors, but some were able to elude justice and rise up when Voldemort called them into command at the beginning of the Second Wizarding War. Their appearance was changed during the Second Wizarding War to masks and darker robes. They wreaked more chaos during the Second Wizarding War, killing many people (including Albus Dumbledore) and destroying buildings as well as Diagon Alley. They were able to take over the Ministry after killing Minister of Magic, Rufus Scrimegeour. With the Death Eaters in control of the Ministry, they were able to make a Muggle-Born Registration Commission to rid the world of what Slytherin believed to be "unworthy to study magic". One of the most known Death Eaters, Severus Snape, was said to be a spy for Voldemort, but helped Harry in the end, betraying his Death Eater allies and becoming the true spy of Dumbledore's. The Death Eaters ended up loosing the Battle of Hogwarts, most were sent to Azkaban but some went into hiding. With their leader dead, the Dark Mark's began to fade and eventually became scars.

Role: To destroy and kill those unworthy to study magic.
