This is a music video promo of my animation short movie currently at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, Craig and Bentley - Joint Enterprise. The movie is registered, copywritten to me and is listed on the IMDB

Synopsis;
it follows the path of two wayward youths from south london in 1953 who were tried and found guilty of murder although only one of the two, Christopher Craig, killed a policeman by the name of Syd Miles. The other youth was Derek William Bentley who was offered mercy by the jury when found guilty equally of the murder... the home secretary at the time David Maxwell Fyfe, decided that he should pay with his life and hang, regardless of the fact that he didnt actually kill, threaten or attempt to resist or injure anyone, & he was under arrest at the time of the actual shooting. The full movie brings 19 year old Derek back to life narrating his final letter to his family and the images are as accurate as they can so you get an idea of what Craig, the police, the judges and all family members looked like in 1952/3

Derek was a 19 year old with a reading age of 4 1/2 and a mental age of 11 so he could not defend himself in court and did not understand fully what had happened to him.

This travesty of British Justice I have detailed in my full animation so that people will remember Derek and rethink what is recorded currently in history..and maybe not think too badly of two kids messing about on a rooftop scared by the police. These days this kind of misadventure would have been laughed out of court. PC Miles sadly lost his life. How he died, remains a subject for controversy as he was shot facing the other way from Craig and the bullet that killed him was of a different calibre to the ones Craig used, being nearer the .38 calibre used by SGT Fairfax who discharged his weapon at Craig. The bullet was never found although wood was cut out from where it would have lodged in the door of the roof access of 29-31 Tamworth Road. (rememeber 16 year old Craig was told he had murdered a policeman, so he pleaded guilty to it, even though his gun apparently hit Miles from facing the other way, was sawn off, and using bullets that werent made for it, causing it to be a million to one unlucky shot. The truth is that there is more evidence to suggest that Craig didnt shoot pc miles. We know he shot up and down but not AT the police from ballistic proof now)

The full feature will disclose more of this unearthed evidence and give you the viewer, the chance to debate argue and decide in your own minds.

either way, it is a very sad story and changed many lives forever.

Audio is a brilliant track by Dave Dawson and Martin Rice and i have permission to use it.

if you are interested in the development of the full feature animation version, please contact me as I can always use money lol
