Highlights from my nine and ten year old teams 2008 game against Lincoln Christian. It was the first time most of them had ever played a game on field turf. This was classic double wing!! Chew up the clock, move the chains and bloody the defenses nose! The Lincoln coaches couldn't stop our wedge play, so they complain to the officials that the play must be illegal. The officials eventually wind up listening to these morons and penalize our little team for "interlock" blocking... the first penalty I ever received running the wedge. We take sixty yards in penalties and get one assistant ejected pleading our case. We pounded Lincoln and left their field with a smile!

  • Aren't you hardcore for making fun of 3rd and 4th graders. It's one thing to beat them but then going around complaining cause you got penalties for something you did wrong and calling people names is just stupid on your part!

  • Okay?? Not sure what angle your coming from. I didn't poke fun at any LCS kids, only the LCS 3rd/4th coaches. Their coaches didn't have a clue on how to prepare their team to face our brand of smash mouth football. It's the ONLY TIME in 3 YEARS that our team was flagged for "interlock" blocking running this offense! LCS couldn't run with the big dogs that day... our little boys from Liberty put a good old country butt whooping on the preppy big city kids from LCS.

  • Coach,

what was the deal on the wedge being illegal? is that a oklahoma athletic ruling of some sort?

  • That's the thing, it's not illegal! Our league plays under the National Federation high school rules. The referee's that day were telling our staff that we were "interlock" blocking. We weren't. It's the only time in three years of coaching the DW that my team was flagged running the wedge. It was also the first time my team had played a game at Lincoln Christian. They didn't take too kindly to a small town school beating their team in their multi-million dollar facility.

  • GO LIBERTY TIGERS

  • Yes. Go Liberty! Last season was my first away from the Liberty Junior Football program. I have a son who now plays youth ball at Beggs and another who plays junior high ball there too. It made it impossible to coach at Liberty AND make both of my son's games too so I stepped down as coach after the '08 season. All of the Liberty teams had tough '09 seasons, but hopefully they will "roar" back into greatness in 2010.

  • The comment from CODandHaloUnited above was removed so I couldn't respond. His comment was as follows: "I look forward to seeing the highlights from this years game, when will they be uploaded?"

Well "Halo" I am not at Liberty anymore. My son plays for the 3rd/4th grade team at Beggs. You know, the same team that beat your Lincoln team and eliminated any chance of you making the playoffs. Enjoy the post season from the stands Halo!

  • Yep. The greatest school in Oklahoma that christian money can buy!
