Now with 100% more props! Meaning, using actual props.

Homeopathy is one of those things that have always insulted my intelligence. Even a -basic- understanding of chemistry and mathematics raises more questions about its founding principles than is ever adequately explained, and actual scientific studies into those questions come up with 'equal or inferior to placebo' when clinical testing is done correctly.

Homeopathy is, essentially, a fraud on the level of the Nigerian or phone scams, and I hope this basic demonstration explains why that is.

For those who would defend homeopathy because it provides 'hope' or similar arguments, I only ask this: why do you condone defrauding people with products that can not possibly live up to their many claims?

  • I strongly oppose homeopathy (and subscribed to you :). But ... it would have helped your point if you got the facts straight, because that is not how a homeopathic remedy is made.

    1. You don't get x + 1/x because the symptom is not necessarily caused by x in the first place.

    2. They don't take 1 drop in 100 ml, they take one part in 10 parts.

    3. they don't do that hundreds of thousands of times, but between 2 and 400 times.

    It's still bogus though.

  • @truelazerlight

I address 1, although you may have missed it. I mention that if you're sneezing for unrelated reasons, then you're still taking something that makes you sneeze.

For 2, it's usually 100 parts, from what I've heard, but 100ml demonstrates the point more clearly, and given how many times they dilute it in 3. I ended up saving steps towards the "higher" doses. Mathematically, after 15-20 steps you're mixing distilled water.

But thanks for the fair criticism, I appreciate it.

    1. You are aware that you need about 20 drops of water to get 1 ml?

    2. Most remedies today are diluted between 6X to 30X. There are remedies with dilutions above 60C but they are not so "plenty". I've also just recently found out that the C-scale is still widely used in the US while in Europe (where I live) X-scale is predominant by far. Didn't know that.

    3. Ending your comment with "You fail." ...

  • @truelazerlight

Remedies are expressed both ways; sometimes by tenths (ie. 10X), sometimes by hundredths (ie. 10C). There are plenty 200C solutions on the market. You fail.

  • @EdwardHowton me too lol. My desk is like a landfill. I currently have a teddy bear wearing my guy fawkes mask next to my computer.

  • @KR2251 I make good use of the "first available surface" method of storage! I'm a bit of a pack rat; I'll keep anything just in case it finds a use in the future. Which means stuff piles up. Fast.

  • Indeed, and a perfect demonstration of the nonsense of homeopathy. ★★★★★
