It took me about 30 minutes to produce this 3D animation in 3Ds Max. Once you learn the tools in this powerful program, it's amazing what it can do. Look at all the oranges, I only modeled one and duplicated them. By using a tool in 3Ds Max called Reactor, I was able to model that solid wooden box and let the copies of the oranges "fall" into the box. I then animate the box to tip and 3Ds Max takes care of the rest. In Reactor, you can simulate reality, including gravity and collisions with other objects in the scene. What you are seeing is a solution to a couple of movements of the box, I then set up a camera to capture the action. Knowing full well a "square" orange wouldn't roll on the floor, I randomized the Reactor animation until it produced a scene I thought would serve the purpose of the animation -- tipping the box shows a lot of oranges, but only the square orange remains. The greatest thing about 3D animation is that if a client can imagine something, it can be made in 3D. The only limits to 3D is one's imagination..... and budget!
