Dear AnnandSully, Your grooming videos of Sully led me to getting a Labradoodle. I adopted him about a year ago, his name is Noah. I have been letting his face hair grow much like Sully's. Can you remember how long it took for Sully to grow that nice long beard? He is such a sweetheart to groom though... like Sully. Wag wag wag. :) Great breed!

Your dog is adorable and so GOOD and patient!

Now I have to go buy thinning shears! Makes sense - I've been cutting with the scissors and the thinning shears will make it lay better I think.

Sully is a Goldendoodle, so may have different hair. The facial hair grows much slower than the body hair for some reason, which is why I don't cut it as short as the rest of the body. You may get a bobblehead look for a while, but it evens out quickly.
It takes a long time to grow out!
Congratulations on Noah!

Are you a dog groomer ?
You not holding your scissor correctly. Your ring finger and your thumb do all the movement not you first finger with your thumb. Every train groomer knows this rule.

Nope, I'm not a groomer just a do-it-yourself-er with a dog that everybody wants to know how I groom, thus the videos. Yes I know I hold the scissors incorrectly according to groomers (and hairdressers) but after a lifetime of doing it that way, the goomer's way is difficult for me. It works for me :)

OK I just wanted to let you know. I do worry about your hand and carpal tunnel. I been a groomer now for 8 years and I love the new 5/8 blade it's a tad bit longer then the #3 and it works great on the doodle breeds and leave a nicer cut then the #3 blade. :) I am very proud to have see this video and how well you keep up with your doodle. Most of the ones I do are Severely matted and owners think because they don't shed (Wihnk Wink ) you don't have to brush them Very sad :(

Funny you should mention that, I just ordered a 5/8 blade. I'm anxious to try it! If I groomed dogs for a living like you do, I'd have to learn to scisssor correctly, I'm sure. With just my two doodles to groom, it's not a big issue for me. The brushing issue is why I started with the part on line brushing. I have other groomers that make that part REQUIRED viewing for their doodle clients :)
