@gregvance they grow long beards so try can blend in with the people and environment so they are better camouflaged and are not suspicious

@gregvance One thing I've heard is Muslims give more respect to men with beards. Men without beards are sometimes looked at as young and immature. These guys would be on the front lines dealing with locals so it also helps blend in if need be.
I think it Canada our guys do it to look less military as well.
