@manuelturcios: I doubt if their were such large numbers. Also remember that Europe itself was nearly wiped out in the dark ages by the bubonic plague. People simply didn't understand disease then. Blood letting was still normative. As for the Masons, they varied greatly from place to place & over time. Just b/c the Masons were seized by radicals in Europe as vehicle for attacking the Church, don't assume this was typical always & everywhere. Washington was vestryman in his church..

@VictorLepanto Keep in mind that the founding fathers with a few exceptions, but Washington included were Freemasons, enemies of the church. the pilgrims before them who came to America fleeing religious persecution were not Christians and the western civilization as we know it now came from the murdering of millions of indigenous people, just before colonization from the English and Spanish there were over 94 million "Indians" in this continent after colonization only 4 million, Hardly a gift.

@manuelturcios: it is hardly the Founders fault that certain people try to read things they did not intend into our constitution. Just note how our Declaration of Independence references God. I don't know what "strictly secular" means or what you intend w/ the term. As for the U.S., we're an English speaking nation. Thus we are an extention of English civilization, & English civilization is but one expression of the larger Western Civilisation.

@VictorLepanto I agree with you on communism, but I wouldn't go as far as saying that western civilization is a gift from the church, if by western civilization you mean the US, then it should be noted how it was not founded on christian principles, rather a strictly secular nation. Not to mention the moral corruption that comes along with it and mostly embraced these days. Abortion, Pornography, sexual deviation etc...

Since Matthew was writing in Greek he would have to have translated from the Aramaic (Jesus' words) into the Greek. Matthew would have made sure to get it right.
Why would he change what Jesus was saying?

Jesus Aramaic is not written, Greek is. Albright has his opinion. Jesus gives the keys to Peter to open and close "doors" of beliefs, practices and OT teaching. Keys don't have to continue, Keys can be given to Peter but Jesus does not say that it should go on forever. David's Kingdom does go on, But Peter's house never goes on. Peter has no family line or children. Peter office does not exist. When James dies in ACTS , No person is voted in to fill his Apostleship. Peter NO -keys Y

Jesus for saw the church, He can see all thing ahead of time. Jesus said this in MT 16, Peter is a main leader along with the other 11 Apostles. Peter is a main person along with other leaders. James- Jesus brother, John, and Paul. The leader of all is never taught. It is a teaching of Roman Papal history which other Bishops did not agree with. Eastern church broke off due to this teaching.

I find the great war against Satanic communism to be one of the greatest proofs for the truth of Catholicism. Nothing in history came closer to destroying 2,oooyrs of Christian history then communism. Let's be frank, Western Civilization is the gift of the Church. W/o the Church, the Greco-roman civilization would not have survived & been fused w/ the later admixture of the German & Slavonic barbaric cultures.

In the miracle of Fatima, when Our Lady "asked" that the descendent of Peter, the Pope, to consecrate Russia to Her Immaculate Heart, so Russia, ortodoxy catholic (the first great split in Christendom) would convert to Roman Catholicism, the Church Her Son founded in order to avoid communism and wars. After that, the most documented miracle in Europe´s history, any doubt on the Roman Catholic Church as being Christ´s body on earth are mere proselitism.
