@saml760 ABC didn't go color until 1966.

the truth is the episodes of Disneyland and Walt Disney ere filmed in color but because they were on ABC from 54-61 they were aired in black and white because ABC being the weak sister of the big 3 networkss back then had neither the resources or technology to show their programs in color,they were finally seen in color when Walt took his show to NBC in 1961.Walt was truly a visionary he foresaw the coming of color TV back in the 50s and was prepared.

when I was growing up Sunday was family night we had the wild Kingdom show,Disney and Lassie great shows for the family do they have any shows like that today? were the whole family could sit down and watch?

@HomeoftheGoodGuys It was named the Wonderful World of Color because it was hyping the fact that it was broadcast in color, as most programs were broadcast in black and white back then. Disneyland was broadcast in black and white, and many of the segments aired originally on Disneyland were simply colorized and re-broadcast under the new Wonderful World of Color format.

According to the title, this has nothing to do with the new nighttime water show which is going on at the Disney California Adventure which is now called "World of Color". It had some references to the theme song to go with it, except during the opening part of the show.

Sigh...I was born in the year 1989 so I didn't have the chance to watch it because this existed when my mom was like 6 or so and yet she still remembers how this theme was sung.

Ironically, this episode of the show was released on December 18, 1966, just three days after Walt's passing away.

WNBC-TV was the place to air this show every Sunday night which was outside of "The Ed Sullivan Show". Look what happened to two networks at the time. CBS had Ed Sullivan on Sunday nights while NBC had "Wonderful World of Color" on the same night. These two are sandwiched, and Ed Sullivan did really well in the ratings.
I remember this from when I was a kid in the Sixties... Now it seems like such an obvious ploy to sell new-fangled color TVs... But it makes me smile, it seems so innocent compared to today's evil corporations!
