One thing that every musician hated about The Beatles back then is that none of The Beatles' songs could be played better than the original. It's been true for 40 years now and, in 750 years from now, it will still be relevant. Thus, this cannot be better than the original "The Word". It is an amazing version since they put their own style into the song. It sounded pretty cool indeed. Cannot touch The Beatles though.

@JFS3 - Don't know : I have it on an old bootleg reporting Austin '67; from 1966 I have a version (recorded in San Francisco) in their 'Sign of the 3 eyed men' box.
