If I render a video in H.264 with Quicktime in 720p and use 4mbps as the birate, will it be accepted for HD? Also, do you have to embed the video to make it show up in widescreen or will youtube start making the 16:9 videos show up in a widescreen player?

I encode using Sony Vegas Media Studio 9 with the Sony AVC format at 1280x720. Check my Q&A video #104 on this. So the Quicktime format at 720 using 4mbps should be fine. Not sure what YouTube has planned, but I'd like to see the HD videos displayed as so. I'd also like to see a HD quality link.

why do some videos not have the "watch in HQ" link, but still work in HQ when you type the thing in the adress bar?
stupid

In many cases it's YouTube glitch or they are not uploaded in HQ or HD :( For example these Q&A videos are HQ (not HD) but not HQ link but you can force it with &fmt=18
