In this 10-minute segment, I get roughly 8.7 million gil and 8840 AP. In a typical 2-hour run at this, about that of a full loop, I get nearly 100 million gil's worth.
Each "All" materia sells for 1.4 million gil when mastered and only takes 35,000 AP to master. This is a whopping 40:1 ratio. Put the alls on a double-growth weapon or armor and this increases to an 80:1 ratio. On triple growth, it's 120:1, the highest possible. I have two characters dedicated for the sole purpose of obtaining gil at this extreme rate. 9 slots of double growth filled with alls. That's 720 gil per AP there alone! There are two others on normal growth weapons and one in a triple growth. That's 920 gil per AP in "all" materia.
HP pluses have an 11.2 to 1 ratio and 3 are used to make it 33.6 per AP total. Magic plus has a 28:1 ratio, the next highest after "all" from what I've seen. For this "junk materia" as I call it (materia with no purpose except gil-making), this totals 981.6 gil per AP. This means that, if I defeat an enemy worth 100 AP, I'm, in a sense, gaining 98,160 gil for just that enemy (and this does not include that from which is gained by defeating the enemy itself). A typical battle in the forest around Mideel, giving about 260 AP on average, is about 260,000 gil per battle. It's no wonder why the millions add up so quickly.
During disk 3 (or late disk 2), you can buy "all" from Fort Condor. Until "all" becomes more easily available, you can use "exit" instead which has a 23.3:1 ratio. "Seal" is an earlier alternative. It doesn't sell for much, but it takes less AP to master thus cluttering up your materia list faster.
In this case, this area provides the fastest gil. The magic pot, which requies you to give it an elixir in order to defeat, is worth 1000 AP. That's practically a million gil a piece. For an infinite supply of elixirs, you'll need the W-item materia, found far to the south of the train tracks during the Midgar raid in disk 2 (or treasure-finding in Bone Village, which can take a long time and cost a bunch (If you follow my "junk materia" approach, the 500 gil per attempt is hardly a dent.).). The enemy called "mover", in groups of 3, is the best of all, giving 2400 AP for over 2 1/3 million gil in that one battle. I didn't get those here as they're quite rare. The only real threat in this area is actually the Tonberry. If attacked, it'll counter with "everyone's grudge" which seems to almost always instantly defeat a character (I've never understood how the damage is determined - I've had Cid take only 7200 damage from it once, but it increased to 8400 at one point. The other two get 9999 which means instant death. It counters 40% of the time and it appears to have 44,444 HP. To prevent this from happening, simply cast "stop" on it (and mime it if needed to save on MP). Once stopped, pound away at it. It won't counter while stopped and if you morph it, you can get a valuable "ribbon". Allemagne is also somewhat of a threat due to it's "L3 Flare" attack which causes big damage to everyone whose level is a multiple of 3. Strangely enough, even with 10+ hours at this, they haven't used it so I not sure how powerful it is.
When the materia list has less than 15 available slots left, you should start heading back to sell the gil-making ones and if you do it, perform the materia blend for "master magic", "master command", or "master summon", the reason for the extra magic materia (as I'm after more "master magic" materia).
Edit: Also, note how I use "deathblow" as my primary way to deal damage and that it never misses once in this. This is due to the luck being maxed. Because of this, it is more effective than slash-all is. I've used deathblow probably 2000 times by now and it has never missed. See the "how to max dexterity and luck" video for details on how to max the luck out.
Edit (on Jun 7, 2008): corrections made - transform takes 24,000 AP to master but, originally thinking it sold for 560,000 gil, it sells for just 350,000, around a 14.6:1 ratio, still not bad. Seal takes 20,000 to master and sells for 210,000, a 10.5:1 ratio.
You know...you can NOT NOT NOT Steal ALL, nor manipulate ALL, nor deathblow ALL, nor sense ALL, so that tells me your selling them. But for what? There is nothing to buy. ALSO, Mr. Man...you are WAAYYY OFF on your math. You only made 87,000. That again, is 87 THOUSAND, not 8.7 million. For you to make 8.7 million here you'd have to spend 16.67 HOURS not ten minutes, come-on. Check your math. Now, help me. I need to get the HUGE materia I missed from the train from bone village, how to dig it?

You can steal all, morph all, and other such things. You need a materia called "mega all" for that. You need to check your math. From all this, I get 200 million gil in about an hour. I've timed it so I know. I even have the full video as an entire loop. You get 1.4 million gil for every mastered all. All needs 35,000 AP to master so that's a 40:1 gil:AP ratio. Get 250 AP and you get 10,000 gil, in a sense. Put 13 all materia on double growth slots and that's 260,000 gil.

i cant record my PS2 with my HD PVR, what do you use?

PVR? What's that? You need a TV tuner in order to record gameplay.

how do you get so many all materias?
gardar29 1 year ago
Easy - obtain the 35,000 AP it takes to reach the fifth level and you get a new one. Equip the new one, replacing the old mastered one and repeat to your heart's desire. It's FF7's fastest way to get gil, and the fastest way to get gil in any FF game that I've played. You can also buy "all" materia from Fort Condor, but you'll need to be most of the way through disk 2 before you can. There's otherwise 5 or 6 alls present scattered around.
