  • Look I'm on a classical music video where people are supposedly more open-minded and intelligent and yet here the top comment is dismissing an entire genre of music. Youtube is hilarious.

  • Cortot brought the french heart of Chopin's music and he has found such a depth of musical insight.

  • @elainebmack forget the "past". they still do

  • A reference is made in International Piano Nov/Dec 2011 on page 10 to Cortot as "sloppy" I found I had to watch this performer and can't really see the reasoning for the description. I suppose I am too musically uneducated to appreciate the demands and ability of a performer who sounds like a cd every time you hear him/her.

Perhaps the person who made the observation had their own hidden agenda.

    Give me humanity, everytime.

I am grateful to IP magazine for making me discover this artist.

  • These piano masters of the past just sit and play, and communicate every nuance and emotion without loopy facial expressions and flaky, attention grabbing mannerisms. They also don't need gimmicks like flashy, revealing clothing. Who am I talking about? I think you know who I mean.

  • Yes, Cortot didn't just sound romantic, but also looked like the incarnate romantic artist! He almost developed f-holes of the violin in his cheeks, like Paganini!

  • perfekt in Interpretation und Stil. Kein Wunder dass ihm so viele Leute in Paris zu Füssen lagen

  • @OriginalBasaliskos So true and the most overlooked factor in the exctinction of true pianist performer/composers. Action so heavy and soundboard so overpowering in the bass that it discourages virtuosic improvisation. Sound is like no longer pearly and like a bell but more like a stomp followed by shooting a canonball to a one ton bell. Yep modern pianos...Forte pianos are much superior or earlier pianos like Cortot's Pleyel.

  • .... "you ... rang ? ....."

  • @gallvic7mx

"the last heir of the true sound of Chopin"....

    How powerful those words are...
