All the media has covered about healthcare is the tea party'ers and almost nothing else. They have given little coverage to the support for the bill. Yet when you look at a recent gallup poll, the numbers are 47 for and 50 against. With the media's coverage you'd think it's like 80 against or something. And there have been numerous other polls, like CBS and new york times that have shown a majority support government run health care, like others for years. Who would know by there coverage?

I always thought it would be a good idea to ask retired teachers and professors to something like that at a local library... basically talk about issues and discuss how our system really works.
The 9/11 meetup group in my area has a constitutional law group... where people learn how our gov. started, how it works and topical issues. There is a lot people don't know... even people who went to college.

Ive an idea that there could be a type of education or learning where teachers are paid, or could volunteer, a learning regimen that could accompany or supplement regular schooling, especially for adults or people who need extra help, or it could be a singular alternative, wherein people go to a place and just ask the teacher questions and he/she answers them, and demonstrates things directly, w/o curriculum or grades, like how people on youtube teach but with actual interaction with the teacher

I agree the Media's job should be to inform. However, I think of the years we wast in High School. We have such a piss poor public education system.

actually, Prof. Chomsky is black listed on all NPR stations in the North East. And if you would have had any familarity with Chomsky's works you would know that he is an anti-Zionist.
Good point 3:15-3:24 I am constantly trying to learn and research and I learn about as fast a snail sits. People aren't that informed and do not really have time or energy to spend trying to reach higher levels of awareness..they are too busy and immersed in the banal and common place yet time consuming activities of day to day life. People say "Americans are dumb" Well they need time and resources and incentives (and economically attainable) ways to self cultivate and grow intellectually.
