Born in 1966, Bill Charlap has been called his generation's jazz piano standard bearer, and he has a string of well received CDs to back it up. State of the Arts producer Susan Wallner visits Bill Charlap at home and in performance -- solo, at an "Afternoon Music" concert series at the Unitarian Church in Summit, and with the Bill Charlap Trio at the Iridium Jazz Club in New York. • Bill Charlap is unboubtly a true master of the more recent generation, but he's not the only one, "Louie2oh2"

Check out "Taury Butler" You'll be hearing from him in the next 40 years to come!

  • This very talented cat knows what he's doing. ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆

  • I like this style of Jazz especially the dense chords he is playing.

  • BC's the standard of civilized swing.

  • The only modern jazz cat (piano)who knows what it is.
