  • that's a different wave. nobody had a camera on site when the wave was surfed. i could take any picture of greg noll dropping in and say it was the supposed big wave. and that pcture is definitely not from 4 stoires up. this is just stupid.

  • Its a lot cooler that photo/video evidence doesn't exist from Greg Noll's 1969 ride at Makaha. It means we have to use our imaginations and rely on storytelling from the past to get an idea of what that wave looked like.

  • The last comment must of been a lie coz according to the film he was out there on his own

  • I was out there with Greg noll and I can tell you that the wave he attemted was the biggest wave at that time. Im Bobby cloutier rode with Greg noll for many years.I was also on Hawaii surf team 1965 in Peru big wave contest and first few Duke kahanmoku contests 1965. So as eye witness.Your full of shit.

  • BTW (2) for anyone who might be interested, they used to have either the original board or a replica (I can't remember which) on display at Just Longboards in Hermosa Beach. They may still have it hanging up in there; it's quite a board to check out.

  • BTW, I thought he never got to the bottom of that wave, whereas these stills show Greg at the bottom.

  • Hey wait a minute - supposedly Corky and Rolf were also out in the water that day and of course, da Buffalo was on the beach (we know that for sure and you know it was big if HE didn't go out!) so let's wait a minute before we start debunking. Get Corky and Rolf and Buffalo's opinions too!

  • Ya right. Greg Knoll is a pussy.

  • Greg Noll was born in 1937, therefore he is 74 today. The narrator looks about 50. He was does not look old enough to be there, also there were very few Australian on the Islands at that time. He might not even have been born before that day.

  • This is not the wave. Greg Noll says so in a particular book that i read that he straightened out as he sat in the biggest "green room" in his entire surfing life. He didn't make it out though.
