I still think this is a cute commercial. I know many thought it was disrespectful, but I don't think this rises to the level of "Catholic bashing" and I am a regular mass-attendee who is normally pretty sensitive about that stuff.

I guess that would work. I still wouldn't say the media portrays Catholics negatively, but I think you'd come across as less of a bigot yourself.
