Here's a quick video review of the Nikon 105 Defocus Control lens. This is an AMAZING portrait lens and is probably one of Nikon's best kept secrets. Head on over to my website to see some samples and other cool stuff.

  • hey! love your videos! how did you add your protfolio to your website?

  • @dipmvideos i created the portfolio in lightroom and then used and FTP client to upload it to my webserver....i then just created the link that points to that location on my blog and that's pretty much it....maybe i'll do a vid about it...

  • @vivoprunus9966 thanks a lot! much appreciated

  • That lens seems awesome! Looks a lot like an ancient tamron I have. "How Soon Is Now" by The Smiths in the beginning! I thought my itunes was still playing, lol.

  • @rockergrrrl it's a great lens indeed...and yay for the Smiths!

  • Great! All I need now is Nikon d7000 and Nikon 105mm DC :P

  • @BustedShutter - I’ve been considering upgrading to an FX body for a while now. I’ve got 6 lenses (3 of which are FX). I currently own a D90, but I’ve got my eye on the D700. I hear all the rumors about the D700 possibly being replaced soon. Regardless, chances are when/if the replacement is released, it will probably be at a higher price, so I’d probably still go for the D700 anyway. What’s your take on the differences from going to a DX to an FX camera? Is it a big differrence?

  • 135 is a better length IMO on FX. Gives more subject isolation due to the longer length. 85 1.4 and 135 2 are my favourites.

  • @slyx94 Don't loose too much sleep over CA, it can be removed later on. However F2 has the most, F2.8 a little, basicaly gone by F4.

  • F2 = sharp? I don't know but chromatic aberration (CA) starts coming in USUALLY in maximum apertures. I think f2.8 is recommended.. =)

  • Nice video. That lens is older than you think.

  • Hoya Pro 1 recommended throw one on all your lenses! not too expensive and Hoya quality.

  • I admire you because you can pronounce Nikon properly

  • Mr dudeman sir, Could you say pls why you chose the 105DC instead of the 135DC? Thanks
