Were the legends of elves, gnomes, & goddesses being turned into trees based entirely on fiction, or is there possibly some basis for it in real life as well?
If the virus was around at that time it's not beyond the realm of possibility, but considering just how epically rare it is, it's more likely that people ran with the idea after seeing trees that looked like people or even vaguely human-shaped. A kid who started with warts on his face and hands number one would most likely be ostracized or even killed before he started looking very tree-like. Interesting idea, though, and I don't think it's impossible.
Oh yeah! I forgot about the alleged apparitions seen in trees! I wish I'd have thought of that when I was making the video, I would've thrown that in there as well. Oh well. Thanks for the comment.
