  • the romanian deadlift does more back, yeah?

  • RDL - Some back (Spinal erectors), but mainly for the hamstrings. A great posterior chain exercise!

  • if it deos more hamstrings then howcome bodybuiders use deadlift as a back exercise, well some bodybuilders do, eg. ronnie coleman. Also, when you do a normal power clean and jerk, is the common/proper whatever way to do a normal deadlift using legs aswell?? know what i mean?

  • A Conventional Deadlift is different than a Romanian deadlift:

    1. Conventional Deadlift: Starts from the floor, recruits quadriceps and glutes in the first phase, hamstrings and back to finish. Focus on Concentric work. Uses more weight.

2 RDL - Starts from waist, weight lowers Eccentrically, challenging the back and hamstrings to control the descent. Weight begins to return to starting position when max ROM is attained.

  • So if u want to target more back better to do RDL, and u said that RDL is concentric, which means that the muscular force applied is less than the weight therefore letting the weight down slowly, if that s the case how do you get the resistance back up to the start position.... just try to rephrase what you said about the RDL in ur last comment

  • NO:

RDL - Focus is eccentric on the descent.

The important thing to remember is that the RDL is largely eccentric, and posterior chain, while the deadlift is largely concentric, posterior and anterior.

DEADLIFT one can really pack on more weight - is great for building a solid back, legs, arms, everything if done properly.

    DO BOTH!

  • What is wrong with it. You can't come here and rag on some one's technique or form with out offering some explanation that indicate that, right or wrong, demonstrates that you at least know something about it.

  • Nice form!
