Learn to windsurf with Alan Cadiz on Maui. This DVD availible at hstwindsurfing.com Entry level waterstarting, using a harness, sailing in hi wind and much more.
learning to use he harness is a pain, but once you get it, you'll wonder how you ever managed without it!
With a wide stance, as you feel the sail pulling and you start steering, hook in and try using your body as leverage. As u get comfortable, go out in increasing wind until you can get in the footstraps before hooking in. When in the footstraps, lift your hips and hook in, Really commit to the harness and feel the board really taking off! Is the board is too fast open the sail slightly.
I'm not good enough to give you good advices, but you've got the point
Trust you're windsurfer's feeling, when you stir the sail you will get closer to the winshbone and you will see that the harness will cling naturally.
The main danger with harness attached is the catapult effect, be carefull not to let to many power in the sail, use your weight to stir and not your arms
hope that will help and sorry if my english is bad
yeah it will!!! my hands get eaten up bleeding after im done windsurfing... so i need a harness for that and i need help plaining. So doi just strap on the harness and im off? is there anythings not to do while in the harness?
im not an expert or anything but ive seen ppl doing it and what they do is they get into sail position (in foot straps, etc) and then once they are comfortable they just hook up which alows you to hold the sail against the wind with your body weight instead of making your muscles works so much. hope i helped :)
i am good at windsurfing... i can jibe, tack, quick tack, jibe, heli tack, 360 etc. but, i have never used a harness before... im 14 and use a 6.0 sail. what do i do exactly? i mean i get on the harness and then just sail regularly?

1st. Hook-in then lean back into the wind and hike out over the water.
2nd. Get some speed going. Plane if you can.
3rd. Move back on the board and put your front foot in the strap first then your back foot in second.
This makes for a very solid stance, like a 3-legged stool (mast, harness lines and the feet in the foot straps.
