Those brain dead teens are all grown up now, working jobs, families, and the same shitty taste in things that they had 20 years ago. And since when have critics ever been a reliable standard? Sure, for the most part, they act as a decent medium, but they have been known to drastically overrate things. And the Academy? Talk about catering to the crowd.
I love your philosophy as well "the people who's opinions matter." If you don't mind, I THE VIEWER, am being fed this garbage
Once again, I will get over it once you go fuck yourself.
This kind of film is exactly the sort of film that Hollywood loves to sell to the MTV Generation, lots of explosions, empty, fake characters that love to overact, a ridiculous plot, and best of all, pretentious plodding that makes you think you're into some deep shit. You know how old someone born in 1970 is now? They're about 40, they probably listened to all those alternative rock bands in the 90s (yuck),
@degree7 LMAO braindead teens, get a clue. TDK is universally liked by fans and critics and people in the film industry. It's even ranked by Empire as the 15th best film of all time. You not liking it means nothing. As was said before, the people whos opinions matter loved it. Grown men who knwo far more about cinema than you loved it. Once again- get over it.
You can't see that Hollywood is just a machine that runs on your wallets and lobotomizes viewers by the minute?
Awards, trophies, and the opinion of fucking Spielberg or Scorsese do NOT a good movie make! If you're on a board run by Jews, you really think such a pristine medium is going to let a current cash cow like Batman filled with big name stars slip by the radar?
Assuming I don't know who Meryl Streep, Kubrick, Brando, Ford, Dean, or other big names are.
Resorting to weak insults, calling me an 'ignorant teenager'. The funny thing is, it's mostly braindead teens that like the Dark Knight. Not full grown, working, 'respectable' adults. If you're the class of America, how much hope is there for our media culture?
@degree7 I've never worked in Hollywood a day in my life and even I know you can't win Oscars or even get nominated unless the bigshot actors and directors throw heavy support your way. That's how an independant film like Slumdog won best picture. Anyway the final word on both DK and Hurt locker is that they are great movies, despite your own opinion. No matter how much you hate DK you have to admite Ledger was brilliant.
Great point thatgut32321, let this kid say whatever he wants. Some teen of the net trying to change reality. Both movies were highly acclaimed and nothing this highschooler says can change the fact that TDK made a billion dollars or was nominated for tons of awards or that Hurt locker got universal praise and won 7 Oscars including best picture. I've wasted enough time on here.
@degree7 Scorsese is a voting member of the Academy and of the directors guild, both of which gave both films complete praise. I really don't give a shit what you believe but Scorsese was a part of the campaigne for both movies, he also campaigned hard for Brokeback mountain but that lost best picture to Crash. And Hanks is widely considered a legend, nobody cares about your opinion about his films, he is a highly respected movie legendary star. Isn't it past your bed time ?
This may put you on suicide watch- The Dark Knight was ranked the 15th greatest film in history on Empire's 2008 list of the "500 Greatest Movies of All Time", based upon the weighted votes of 10,000 readers, 150 film directors, and 50 key film critics.[161] Heath Ledger's interpretation of the Joker was also ranked number three on Empire's 2008 list of the "100 Greatest Movie Characters of All Time".

I doubt Scorsese has once praised TDK or THL. And I wouldn't exactly call Hanks a legend, considering the slew of crap he's put out recently.
Btw, yoou don't have to feel sorry for me 'sweetheart'.
