Day 5: Gyantze to Lhasa - Itinerary was suddenly changed by the guide to exclude Yamdrok Lake from the schedule. Surprised guests began to discuss this change of itinerary with the guide. This discussion escalated due to the guide¡¯s refusal to listen to the guests¡¯ concerns. The guide verbally and physically threatened guests, including attempted assault. Furthermore, the guide was unwilling to cooperate with tourist police once they appeared on the scene. Tourist police ultimately had to ensure the tour group safe passage to Lhasa and the opportunity to speak with the guide¡¯s agency manager in Lhasa. The guide promised a meeting the following morning at 9:30am with the agency manager but the manager did not appear the next day nor did the guide mention this issue.
- After tour guests were disappointed with the change in itinerary to exclude Yamdrok Lake, the guide proceeded to suggest this detour was possible for 500 Yuan per car. This suggestion was a direct violation of Chinese tourist regulations.

The tour guide is just an employee of the tour agency. He takes his orders from the tour agency. He does not decide on the itinerary. Yelling at him is not going to do you any good. You should complain to the tour agency.

If you travel to tibet and use guides, make sure you get TIBETAN guide and TIBETAN driver. We nearly got stuck with a chinese driver from Lhasa to Mt. Kailash, but we put our foot down andd got a Tibetan driver. It was brilliant!
