@HunterofDolts yea, iirc in portugal at least there were things called "mourerias" i wouldn't know what to call it in english but it would sound like the word "monastery" and would sort of be like saying "moor-ery" and is where muslims who remained behind after the expulsion of most of them would be forced to lived and didn't really mix with the native population, racially or culturally. unfortunately people always equate phenotype as indicator of their idea of race.

fun "fact":the ones originally called moors ("mouro" in portuguese) in portugal/spain were actually the megalithic peoples & not the muslims who invaded later who are called "muculmanos" (musulmans) The indiginous iberians were the real moors & not the muslims who were called that later on
