In December 1968, Apollo 8 was the first manned spacecraft to orbit the Moon. During this mission, the crew experienced a sight never before seen by the human eye - an Earthrise. Astronaut William Anders later said that "We came all this way to explore the moon, and the most important thing is that we discovered the Earth".

The deep philosophical meaning of the Earthrise itself and Anders' statement is that everything and everyone is on that sparkling blue sphere hanging in the blackness of deep space. All our culture, problems, joys, differences - everything. The entire humanity is on that sphere called Earth.

And still, travelling to the Moon and looking back at Earth is what it took for many to truly realize the fact that the Earth is an isolated island in space. Many still think of the universe as something "beyond" Earth, while Earth is in fact just a tiny part of this universe. On large scales of space, it's quite an insignificant little planet orbiting a small yellow star at the outskirts of one of the estimated 170 000 000 000 galaxies that reside in the known universe.

And yet, Earth is so important to us. It is where our history has taken place, it is where our ancestors lived. While humanity may spread out to other planets in the distant future, Earth definitiely holds our future as well. It is the place where we collect food, perform art, and connect with other people. But it is also where we fight our wars and show our hatred. We hate Earth and we love Earth. But in the end it is all we have.

Earth is our home.

This piece is the second part of my Voyager project (or "album" if you will) of music that I feel reflects some of the Voyages I've done in my mind. If that makes any sense at all... :-)

I hope you'll enjoy listening to it and watching the video as much as I've enjoyed creating it. :-)

  • In my world with such a busy and hectic life, caring for a sick child and dealing with troubled times in the past, along with keeping my family together......I find such calm in listening to this wonderful piece of music. Makes me wanting to carry on for another day......... ...............and another..

    Thank you.

  • @2509maddog Reading your comment totally made my day!! If my music gives you inspiration in life, nothing could be better for me as a hobbyist musician. I'm almost speechless!!

Life can be extremely difficult sometimes, but your ability to use music to close your eyes and escape your worries and troubles for a little while gives you incredible strength to carry on.

I wish you and your child the very best for the future.

  • @rfoshaug you have aswell given me inspiration, your music is an art for me, please make more similar to this, but your music never gets old

  • Thank you for sharing this with us. This is one of the best combination of video/music I've ever seen in my life, rivalled only by your previous Voyager video. And the conclusion is so obvious. Earth may be an insignificant speck of dust, but it's our only home, and we must be nicer to the planet and to each other. I wish you the best!

  • wow thanks for sharing this with us, your music, combined to great video footage editing, and beautiful love message, fragile earth, all this conveys to strong artistic emotions, made me dream, made me forget sorrows tonight, thank you so much.

Hope you will find a way editing your music one day! Good luck, keep on doing, it is the talented mark.

  • Rune: Dette var bare heilt fantastisk å lytte på... 10 tomler av 10 tomler opp
