The Good Samaritan Hospital in La Romana, Dominican Republic has been building Biosand water filters for several years. Our program is supported by the Rotary Water project. To date we have placed about 1,000 filters into 20 bateyes or sugar cane communities. The Rotary has been looking at replacing the concrete filters we have been building with plastic units. Good Sam is preparing to change its program to conform with the direction the Rotary is taking.
