Hee hee, my mother's cat was ALWAYS hungry!!  He'd rattle his head and make that wierd clicking noise if you rustled a newspaper at him then attack it!! and he brought home frogs, moles,voles,mice,rats and squirrels as thank you gifts! He was mental in the best possible way!!

OMG!! I think like all cats (or at least the ones I've had) make that sound when they're tyring to catch flies or birds!! I love it!!
