OBJECTIVES

• To be able to document different responses from people with regard to various social experiments.

• To observe the behavior of people on different theoretical experiments.

PROCEDURE:

Two friends will be situated in a crowded place; the first friend will ask her friend uy! Ano iyon?! or uy! Si Piolo! pointing out at something from afar, making sure that everyone around would hear her interrogative shout. Then well see if the people around would look at the direction the first friend is pointing to.

THEORY 1: The need to satisfy curiosity

• Curiosity stimulate interest. Curiouser and curiouser, as Alice said. Curiosity also is reputed to have killed the cat, in the cautionary reprimand that is often leveled at naturally curious children. For the rest of us, curiosity is a drive that often leads us into unknown waters.

• In this experiment, those who look at the place we are pointing at has the urge to satisfy their curiosity.

THEORY 2: Extrinsic Motivation

• Extrinsic motivation is when I am motivated by external factors, as opposed to the internal drivers of intrinsic motivation. Extrinsic motivation drives me to do things for tangible rewards or pressures, rather than for the fun of it.

• The motivation of the people who looked at the place we were pointing at is Piolo, that is why they were driven to look and follow our actions.
