Citroen DS5 2012 HD exterior, interior.
Citroën has revealed the eagerly anticipated third model in its innovative and distinctive DS line: Citroën DS5. Designed to express the full extent of Citroën's 'Créative Technologie', Citroën DS5 combines ground-breaking style, rewarding driving dynamics and exceptional refinement with innovative engineering solutions.

Citroën DS5 is the first Citroën model to feature HYbrid4 diesel hybrid technology, providing enhanced performance and class leading environmental credentials. The advanced HYbrid4 system delivers 200bhp; four-wheel drive capability; emission-free electric power for the city; and an acceleration boost function for the open road - with total CO2 emissions of just 99g/km.

The DS line has already redefined expectations in the supermini segment with DS3, and combines the style of a coupé and the flexibility of a five-door hatchback with DS4. Progressing to the executive segment, Citroën DS5 targets customers looking for a truly bold and assertive car with a resolutely modern approach to vehicle design.

Based on the futuristic and magical C-SportLounge concept, DS5 bringstrue technological innovation to its class.

The dynamic exterior reflects a modern expression of status and promises enhanced driving pleasure. Flowing lines, a sleek profile and muscular wheel arches - which wrap themselves around the large (16" to 19") alloy wheels - give Citroën DS5 an undoubted air of refined confidence.

  • @MikeAnglichanen unwanted? unreliable?

Ever drove a Citroën? Left alone, owned one?

I drive a Citroën C4 now, it's a practical, comfortable car that has already proved its worth in that year i got him, suspension is just amazing in comparison to other brands like Audi, Bmw, Opel, VW and so on, the fact that Sebastien Loeb just won his 8th wrc title with a citroën already said enough, if you want reliability, go for citroën, if you like comfort, chose citroën.

  • @Defrynzo actually i'm trying to spoil its reputation so it's resale value drops and I can therefore pick one of these up real cheap in a years time

I'm glad to hear you like it. They don't bring Citroens here to the US any more. My dad had a DS when I was a kid & he always talked about how much better our car was than all the other brands. I'd love to have a Citroen but can't, unless I get an old one. I suppose that if the European standards ever get as stupid as ours they could bring them here without needing any changes. That'd be good for us, but bad for you.

  • @deezynar thats true. I must say I was doubting the change to a Citroen from other people's issues with them. But I must say, it has been the best move of my car history. :))))))))

From the late 50's thru the mid 70's, Citroen was far ahead of everyone else in almost every catagory. In the mid 70's, other manufacturers started to get a bit more aero, added discs to the front wheels, more aluminum, etc. They took the good CHEAP ideas. No one has matched the suspension because it's not cheap. Most people have never driven a Citroen so they don't know what they're missing. The other guys have narrowed the gap, but they haven't caught up.

  • @deezynar you're joking right? I went from a Polo GTI to a DS3 Sport. And I can not stop raving about the suspension. The suspension in the Polo held the car nicely and cornered well but it has a very firm ride and you could feel every bump. The DS3 corners just as well as the GTI but it's so bloody supple on rough surfaces you forget you're in a hot hatch. And the stand out thing for me is probably the styling. For this styling, you have to choose Italian or French cars.

  • I think the problem w/ Citroen is that they made the world's best cars for years until the other manufacturers took all the good and cheap ideas they could from them and then Citroen couldn't compete any more.

  • Like other makers, they seem to be cramming in too much electronic junk, much of which may not be so serviceable. I have had big Citroens in the past & loved them, but now I hesitate and think back to the days when they made good cars. -- No more, I fear.
