@FromHolbergsTime : I thought Glenn Gould had gone out of vogue !

Appears to be more scholarly and better presented in terms of dramatic effect than the same piece recorded some 15 yrs later for EMI. If the present recording is on the London label, then that explains it. I had considered Jeanne Demessieux's 1959 recording at the Madeleine to be the definitive version. Now ... I'm not so sure!

Thanks for uploading. Note the deliberate tempo. Very [nineteenth-century] gothic!!!

I agree with irkibby....masterfully played! Thanks for sharing!

Evidemment Maitre Cochereau...quelqu'un connait-il la version de Maitre Grunenwald aux grandes orgues de Rouen ( un vinyl aux éditions EDICI dans les années 1970...)

Absolutely beautifully done. The correct slow, forceful pace to the beginning, and grumpy and tempestuous all the way through.

I once read that Cesar was forced by his father to compose, does it sound a bit anxious?

Triumphant, distinctive,
a splendor unsurpassed,
magisterial, monumental,
from noble foundations,
an everlasting art!
