  • This is the clearest, least pretentious explanation of jazz chords I've come across in many a long mile. I wonder if he's got a book out...? I'll check with Amazon.

  • Where can I download more of this guy's lessons?

  • excellent lesson

  • heh i walk by this guy every day on my way to theory class... its a shame i can't play jazz

  • Nice thank you

  • Fred Hamilton, i´ve been having guitar lessons on the internet and you are by far the best teacher I found. This one gave me the will to start to play jazz . Pitty there are just five lessons, all of them very good. Thank you!

  • Yep. All you need to play in jazz is the root(but not always); the third which tells your ears whether the chord is minor or major and then the colour tone: the 7th,9th,11th, or 13th. You of course can also play 6th chords or tenths like what Art tatum did so masterfully on piano.

    Three notes.

  • wow.........this is the BEST explanation on chords I have ever come across. I'm an intermediate player fooling around in blues & jazz, lots of theory but not quite sure where and when to apply. This video is a revelation. Thank you so much........10 stars (well 5 then)
