Written and recorded by Terri Sharp in August 1965. Seen here is an original acetate of that recording with a label showing the name and address of Larry Kane, a famous radio DJ and presenter of "The Larry Kane TV Show", a Texas equivalent to "American bandstand". According to Terri (who was kind enough to comment below), Kane was responsible for her recording the 45 in Nashville. Acetates of it were cut (of which this is one of them) and sent to the major labels. It was first released on Huey P Meaux's Ventural label, which operated out of Texas, and after some local success (it sold 5,000 copies) attracted the attention of Fontana who distributed it both nationally and internationally.

  • Oh my goodnes.....where did you find this treasure?. Larry Kane was responsible for me getting this recorded in Nashville. He hooked me up with Bob Moore who hired the whole A Team for a 4 song session at the famous RCA studio. Larry sent these acetates to all the major labels, which turned me down, but then it was picked up by Huey Meaux who put it on his Ventural label. Because it was a regional hit in Texas...Mercury picked it up and put in on their Fontana label. Thank you for posting this

  • @TeresitaLaGuera - Wow, what a great surprise! Thanks for dropping in Terri, and for taking time to comment. Didn't know Larry Kane was responsible for you recording this song. I guessed he'd received the acetate so he might give it some airplay. Thanks for clarifying. I read somewhere that you wrote it just two days prior to the trip to Nashville. Is that right? The acetate you see was bought from eBay just a couple of months ago. It now has a good home among my other 45s in the Netherlands!
