The 5.0 is back for Mustang.
The 2011 Ford Mustang GT arrives with an all-new advanced 5.0 liter V-8 engine that packs more than 400 horsepower.
The new 5.0-liter V-8 in the 2011 Mustang GT is a double-overhead-camshaft configuration that employs two camshafts per cylinder bank one camshaft to operate the intake valves and one camshaft to operate the exhaust valves. Ti-VCT rotates the camshafts to advance or retard the cam timing, based on several measures including throttle opening.
An element unique to the Mustang GT 5.0-liter V-8 application is that Ti-VCT is actuated by camshaft torque, with assistance from pressurized oil. Using camshaft torque energy provides faster throttle response and maximizes use of existing energy, to aid fuel economy. Camshaft torque energy Ti-VCT actuation is a Ford innovation, introduced first on the 3.0-liter V-6.
Working like a ratchet, the one-way valves allow precise timing of camshaft events, continually optimizing timing to provide maximum thrust or fuel economy, based on driver input

  • outright great! with the 5.0L in the lineup Ford will once again rape sales from the Camaro...not to mention the 5.0L is matched to a 6spd! id take a Mustang anyday over a Camaro or Challenger and innovations by Ford continue to raise the bar. I Believe electronic power steering will be an option, if not standard which is another good addition....all this 5.0L needs is direction injection

  • I second that!

  • @FoundOnRoadDead3 another hate comment from another neon with a fartcan owner LOL, ,..

  • me and my friend about died in one of these the other night, we hydroplaned spun like 3 times and saw head lights coming at us but luckly hes a regular ken block and can drive like a mofo he saved our asses and the car got away without a scratch it just threw it out of alinement. If you do own one of these cars dont take the traction control off just to do burnouts lol

  • Go ahead, look. The fuel port is on the drivers side now.

Oh, and next time you reply to me and claim that you are wise, make sure you do so in complete sentences so you don't look like such a retard.

  • @bestamerica Okay, first the tail lights are sequential, and red is the internationally recognized color for the lights on the rear of a vehicle, not amber, so the more red the better.

Second, the front amber turn signals in the lower part of the front bumper wrap around to the side and are clearly visible from the side.

Third, since you whined so much about the fuel port location, the boys at Ford have moved it to the drivers side. It cost them millions, but they did it just for you.

  • Toromont123, ' thank for explain,,, dont use 2 words - YOU / YOUR - on me,,, it is explain about this car from ford automaker is a wrong design,,, not me,,, i am a not ford automaker person,,, i am a wise person than this lousy car,,, ford automaker is a stupid and error design,,, 2 red lights are not enough on rear for turning sign,,, best to put 2 amber lights on rear,,, right side is a wrong gas in hole,,, left side is the best gas in hole,,, closed cased,,, i am WINNER
  • @bestamerica I dont like your comment because:

1 - If you are too stupid to know what a blinking red tail light means you shouldn't be driving

2 - The front amber lights are visible from the side

    3 - They do make a V6 version thats makes 305 hp

4 - The engine gets plenty of cooling or it would weld itself

5 - The fuel port is put on the passenger side for better side to side weight distribution.

  • that car is a sexy beast
