I`m a Capoeiraista who also plays West African drumming, my teacher being a griot from guinee.
It`s so amazing to see how close the relationship between the ladja, capoeira and west african drumming.Maybe it all stems from the youdoban religions and language.Axe

Yep. You can still see a lot of this on the West all the way down to Angola. It's predominantly a Kongo thing, but forms of it are all over.

there are several CD of ladja music,but you can only find them in Martinique or in Alan Lomax's collection: CARIBBEAN VOYAGE, THE 1962 FIELD RECORDING , MARTINIQUE-Cane Fields and City Streets.
