Tony award winner Whoopi Goldberg has signed on to host the 62nd annual Tony Awards, to be broadcast live on June 15 from Radio City Music Hall. The Tony's have gone two years without a single master of ceremonies, instead working with a lot of different presenters. Interestingly, this will mark Whoopi's first time as emcee of this huge theatre event. Whoopi has hosted the Oscars four times.

Patti Lupone and the cast of Gypsy headed into the recording studio last week to lay down tracks for a recording of the current version of the show. The recording will be released in August on Time Life records.

The PS Classics label will release the soundtrack to A Catered Affair, the new John Bucchino musical, on May 27th, as well as the soundtrack to Adding Machine June 3rd. The venerable label will also release solo recordings by Broadway stars Kerry Butler and Capathia Jenkins. If you can't wait for them to hit stores, you can pre-order online at psclassics.com.

Jonathan Groff and Lea Michelle are leaving Spring Awakening at the end of May.Their final performance at the Eugene O'Neil Theatre will be May 18. In other Spring Awakening news, the show will hit the road soon for a multi city tour that begins in San Francisco at the Curran Theatre on Sept. 4th.

Hey, can anyone tell me where I can watch the Tony Awards of 2008? (It's kinda late, I know)

Here where I live it was aired at 2a.m. my time (live) and I couldn't afford watching it that late and I'm really interested in the performances (and Whoopie xD)

Whoopi made the tonys. Besides whoopie and the performances and the winners speeches (especially laura benanti and patti lupone.)

the tonys were lame. All that crapola about "Union between actor and audience and all that nonesense. Im pretty sure that the majority of pro actors think things through a lot simpler.
