  • Reed was a talentless wife beating thug, who only got in films because his uncle was the Oscar winning director Sir Carol Reed.

  • They don't make them like him anymore... what a guy and and an Actor the great Oliver Reed. It's nice to see the late John Thaw here... all great actors!!

  • Thanks race2run nice to find someone else on here intelligent enough to recognise Ollie for the great actor he was. I also wish I'd been lucky enough to share a pint and good conversation with him. Going to order The Hunting Party on DVD and relive another of Ollies great acting roles. Keep posting - always good to hear from you.

  • @Beyondconsciousness I'm sure he did! Only wish I'd been one of them!! Sigh!!

  • @KARLOS2269 I agree that it didn't take anything away from his acting. In that western, The Hunting Party, with Candace Bergen he had to talk like an American cowboy. He did great and he was brilliant. Yes, he lived the way he wanted to even if it did cut his life short.!! I sure do miss him!!

  • @itsallinallston I'm getting Tom Hardy...

  • Race2 run agree with some of your comments but even if Ollie did die early because of his drinking he lived the life he loved - how many of us can truly say that. It was part of his persona and never detracted from his brilliance as an actor. Glendale Jackson, whom he adored, even said upon his death she thought he went out the way he would have wanted - I have to agree even though I miss him immensely, but he will always be a legend that will live on through his films and interviews such as th

  • @PortsmouthNoir Yes, those 30 seconds were awesome. I'm think he had a few drinks at times like these but I'm sure I would have needed something to settle my nerves to go on national TV. I am sad that he was an alcoholic because that side I didn't like and was not amused by. He drank himself into an early grave and so many people miss him. He was an absolute brilliant actor and is sorely missed by alot of people! Thanks for the post RJBinghamesq.

  • @race2run So you liked thirty seconds of his life?

  • Sorry to spoil your sober crusade, but Ollie definitely had a couple of stiff whiskey & lemonades before the show. He hated doing chat shows and was the only way to overcome his anxiety. Try again.
