  • the glide is a brainfart of an idea compared to the spin.

  • Though it harder to control, but rotational shot putting simply makes sense. The centripital force generated to the shot can be much stronger than the glide. I'm no professor or anything but I think its from the fact that "spin" (as my coaches called it) never loses momentum at any point whereas that glide, though small, does in the transition from glide to regular stand-throw.
