Hail, up to baseball size

www.youstorm.org - May, 2006, storm chasing in Texas we got caught in some really large hail that put a crack in our windscreen. Some others got hit worse and have a better video somewhere.

Boggles the mind that hail can get this big and sometimes bigger. When I hear weather reports come in a softball and grapefruit sized hail, I think, "That would be amazing to see but scary as hell at the same time."

It was bizarre when it started because the initial hail was spread far apart. You would just begin to see the occasional explosion of ice on the road and you knew it was only a matter of time before one hit the car. Then suddenly a loud WHAMMM, a massive hailstone hits the car roof and you realize "heeeeyyyy *scratches head*, hold up, these are gonna do some damage we need to get out of here" lol.

No kidding! I bet car insurance adjusters go pale when a big hail storm rolls in.

In Utah we do get hailstorms and rarely does the hail get bigger than say, nickles or marbles. Usually it's just pea sized. We don't have the weather ingredients nor the geography necessary to get the huge storms you get in the midwest.

Now that the severe weather season is almost upon us again, are you going to go out and film some more storms?

Yes, our windscreen was smashed in this storm and there were small dents all over the top of the car, but when we went to replace the car, the rental company said they had seen cars in worse conditions come in that day.

Yes beautiful storms in Utah and in great scenery.
