The music which Second Season SPACE: 1999 composer Derek Wadsworth wrote for this scene didn't get used in the finished episode. I though it would be interesting to experience the scene as Derek intended.

Mentor attempts to drag the Alphan's Eagle down to his planet of Psychon.

  • You prompted me to go back and have another listen to "Message from the Dead". I think I know the specific part you refered to as creepy (If I'm right, it's also the music they used for the "alien influence" in "Bringers of Wonder"). I remember reading Wadsworth saying that he once brought some of his music home with him, and entertained the kids by playing it while slowly creeping up on them like a monster. I'd always imagined it was this music he was referring to.

  • Even if the change of soundtrack and plots and actors has been traumatic for many fan (I still prefer the old seasons) This composer is amazing

  • @collegeman1988 dereks music is different from barry grays because the texture and story format changed between seaspns of space 1999 i like barry's more as well but i do enjoy dereks too in listening to both sound tracks one can hear the history both composers culled upon given thy're respective and musical orgins in tthe end just enjoy the music people.

  • I have the complete second season music from Space: 1999. If you only listened to some of the tracks without ever having seen an episode of the TV series, you would think that this was soundtrack music to a 70's TV show like "Charlie's Angels" or other 70's fare. This means that the music that Wadsworth produced was very dated to say the least. However, some tracks like "Message from the Dead" are enough to give me the creeps. Barry Gray's first season music was way better and timeless.

  • wonderful music by a great musician and a humble gent derek wadsworth , every moment spent with you always joy and fun RIPdear friend j vincent edwards

  • Despite some of the shortcomings of series 2 of the show, the music was not one of them - it was amazing, far better than was expected a truly talented chap

  • Derek was a true genius! God bless him! RIP.

Thanks to you for sharing this small amount of his talent. As well, thanks to every artists who participated in the creation of Space:1999.
