Your right because tiger salamanders love half a inch of soil, I'm pretty sure they are mole salamanders and they like to be underground, Not in 1inch of soil...

I hv five tiger salamander all died of skin problem, I change the water twice a week. New fresh water but they still died. Can u give me more info how to keep this creature healthy?

@AvatarOfDarkess idk mines still going goood, & truthfully i dont pay too much attention to him. maybe the water you've been giving him has had chlorine or some other acidic stuff in it?
