I was 11 in 1961 and I wanted the Great Garloo but $17.98 was A LOT of money in those days and by the time Xmas rolled around I had my sites set on other toys. Too bad because Great Garloo in a box in working condition goes for big bucks these days.

Looked it up on an inflation calculator - $17.98 in 1961 equates to $133.38 Today. Decent chunk of change, but look at what that amount gets you today - multi-function, wireless robots, dinosurs and more that put poor ol' Garloo to shame!

yea thats all fine just wait till he breaks the line and go out of control and tears up your parents house and you will see how great he really is.if you look at the video the first thing you see is him tearing down power lines and knocking a train into the water.some toy .yea ok.

Now all you need is a 2-foot-tall Ultraman action figure from Japan and some model buildings....

I have that commercial on one of my toy tapes. I love sci-fi movies, and I would have to have this toy now!
